Local Area Mission
Team
Are
you someone who is looking for practical ways to help support the St.
Andrew’s area community and be a ‘neighbour’?
This Spring the new The Local
Area
Mission Team
will begin partnerships with NeighborLink of Calgary
(NL), and the Haysboro Senior Resource Group (HSRG) to serve
those in need in our immediate area.
We aim to help match the many skills of those from our congregation,
to needs requested by these quality agencies. NeighbourLink is a faith based
multi-denominational agency working with “at risk” families in
Calgary.
These two
agencies (NL and HSRG) have been selected as partners because of their
ability to recognize and ascertain genuine need within their client groups.
As we give, so will we receive in helping others. We will be called
to help in our own church area.
We rely on God to help us gather resources to help those who are in need,
locally.
Our initial
focus in working with NeighborLink is to ‘settle’ one family in need in this
area. That may involve
providing, furniture, paint, tutoring, financial budgeting, move-in
supplies, driving, and so on.
There is a place for everyone and his or her own special gifts.
WE NEED YOU!
St. Andrew’s
would like to be able to help a family who is trying to establish a home.
The Church may be called upon on short notice when a family gains a place to
live to help them settle in. We
are not responsible for the rent.
These families may have similar circumstances to those we have seen
at
Inn
from the Cold.
For
The Local Area Mission Team to
know who is available and what each person can offer our neighbours, please
fill out the St. Andrews Local Mission
Application and Skills Inventory which are available in the office
and at the Welcome Desk.
This will enable us to have a database of people and talents to match
when we are contacted. In applying, you will be asked what times are best
for you, and what kind of help you would like to offer.
Bring the completed
applications to the Office.
Stay tuned for more information on this new
mission venture!
