Our weekly gathering involves coffee and light refreshments beginning at 9:30 am and faith discussion, often in the form of a Bible Study, beginning at 10:00 am . We close with group prayer around 11:00 am.

We are beginning a study of the book of Ephesians this term. We are always open to new participants, but would like to extend a special invitation as we begin this new study. Please join us!


CHAPTER 1   1.1-14   

  1. Why does Paul begin this letter with a blessing?
  2. In vv. 3-14, Paul uses the term “in Christ” or a similar phrase to describe what God has done for us.  Why do you think he did that?
  3. What does it mean to be blessed “in the heavenly places”?  (Vs. 3)
  4. Why s it significant that we were chosen “before the foundation of the world”?
  5. For what purpose were we chosen?
  6. What does it mean to be adopted as God’s children?
  7. How has God’s grace been freely bestowed on you?
  8. What does vs. 7 tell you about the work of Christ?
  9. How can a mystery be revealed?  Is it still a mystery?
  10. What does “to gather up all things in him” mean to you?
  11. Note the alternative translation in vs.11 .  What difference does it make which one your choose?
  12. What does vs. 11 tell you about human history?
  13. What is the purpose of God’s choice of us?
  14. What is the place of the Holy Spirit in our redemption?

CHAPTER 1   1.15-23  

  1. How does vs. 15 relate to the previous verses?
  2. Why does Paul give God such a lengthy title?
  3. What would a spirit of wisdom and revelation do for you?
  4. What is the hope to which we are called?
  5. What riches do you expect to receive from God?
  6. Note that the power of God which is for us is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead.  Do you believe you have that kind of power working for you?
  7. How would you describe the power Paul here attributes to Christ?
  8. How is Christ the head of the church
  9. What does it mean for the church to be the body of Christ?
