Growing Life Together with God

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
LinX Email for January 29, 2025
Feb 2, 2025 - Love Stands Firm

Feb 2, 2025 - Love Stands Firm

Rev. Laurie McKay

Presbyterian World Service and Development is the church’s physical response to overwhelming disaster and poverty.  Partnering with groups already in the country, we put flesh on the call to love.  Together we live out hope, and faith.  But the greatest of these is love.

Grateful / Thankful / Blessed

Grateful / Thankful / Blessed

A member from our congregation commented on the amazing sight displayed through the laying on of hands during the Elder Ordination January 19th.  How blessed are we with our current ministers Rev. Laurie and Rev. Geoffrey, and our Ministers in Association Rev. Peter Coutts, Rev. Dr. Jean Morris, and Rev. Fiona Swanson, and to have Rev. Clay Kuhn participating in our worship?  Along with these wonderful leaders are our current session members, including our 3 new elders and 1 returning elder to Session as we start a new year in 2025.
We do not take for granted how blessed we are.
Together - we strive to Grow. Life. Together. With God.

Seeing Rainbows!

Seeing Rainbows!

On a recent visit to the church, one of our Indigenous friends from Iksooksipaitapii Wellness Foundation noticed the woven rainbow banner on the wall and saw that rainbow as a sign that we might be a safe place for members of their community. What a “God moment!”.

Have you got a Green Sleeve?

Have you got a Green Sleeve?

Planning for your future healthcare decisions is important. By thinking about your healthcare preferences now and letting others know, you make it easier for your loved ones and healthcare providers, especially during tough times. A Green Sleeve or a similar document can be helpful, detailing your medical wishes, end-of-life care, and other key information. Members of the public can order up to two Green Sleeves for delivery to their home at no cost. Here are step-by-step ordering instructions on how to order a Green Sleeve; The username and password for the public ordering account are both “Greensleeves” (case sensitive).
If you are not sure of what a Green Sleeve should contain, and why, please view the link here. At minimum, a Green Sleeve will contain a personal directive (recommended for all adults older than 18), Goals of Care Designation (GCDs), and a Tracking Record.
If you want further information, you might find this document useful: Conversations Matter: A Guide for Making Healthcare Decisions. Start planning now to give yourself and your family peace of mind.

Caregivers Seminar ~ ALL ARE WELCOME!!

Saturday, Feb 8 ~ 9:30 – 12:00, followed by lunch ~ Trinity Hall

Assuming responsibility for the care of another person is one of the most common characteristics of the sandwich generation. If you care for someone in your family (“care” meaning everything from helping with physical care to helping with financial decisions and/or property, to emotional support), or if you know of a friend in the same boat, an upcoming seminar at the church is tailor-made for you. St. Andrew’s will be hosting a Caregivers Seminar, presented by Caregivers Alberta. The speaker is Karen Cuthbertson, MSc, Manager, Support Services.

The focus will be:
1. What is a caregiver and why does it matter
2. Signs of stress and burnout
3. Self-care/self-compassion
4. Spiritual well-being
5. Finding resources

Please register by Jan 30
and please let us know if you plan to stay for lunch:
