How do YOU spell ‘warm’?

How do YOU spell ‘warm’?

So many of us head out into a cold, blustery day with our coats zippered up, scarves around our necks, toques on our heads, and waterproof boots on our feet ~ and ‘hit the day running’!
Because we are a community of people who pay attention to others around us, we are VERY aware that this is not the case for many.
During the month of February, the Men’s Group are gathering up St. Andrew’s donations of warm weather clothing, blankets, and other requested items - and delivering them downtown to the Aboriginal Friendship Centre.  Last week they filled Terry Basaraba’s entire SUV, and the first delivery was made.  As you can see from the smile on Crystal’s face, these donations are WARMLY received.
Crystal sees every day how these items make a difference in the lives of the people who come into the Centre.
 Thank you, St. Andrew’s!!
 ~ Deb

Do you have one you'd like to donate?

Do you have one you'd like to donate?

Every week at Side by Side, our dementia care program, we like to have music playing in the background when people arrive and throughout the day. Music helps us to connect with each other.  Unfortunately, our old CD player has become unreliable and is in need of replacement.  If you have one collecting dust and want to donate it, please contact Audrey Cole or Judie Coleman.  Thank you!
We could also use calming instrumental CDs,
or, in other words, 'music with no vocals.'  Thanks again!

If you were a car, you would need to put gas in your tank to keep on going.

If you were a car, you would need to put gas in your tank to keep on going.

Even if you don’t think of yourself as a caregiver, you might find it interesting to take this ONLINE QUIZ to find out whether you are. You just pop in on neighbours to make sure they are okay, pick up groceries for an aging parent or grandparent, or have children with special needs and medical appointments. Voilà, you are a caregiver.
If you are a caregiver, giving of yourself takes a toll on you. If you were a car, you would need to put gas in your tank to keep on going.
We sponsored a workshop at the church last Saturday, attended by 40 people, at which facilitator Karen Cuthbertson shared tips about how to take care of yourself as a care giver. In case you missed that presentation, the Alberta Caregivers website lists many programs, often at no cost, that will help you refuel  if you are running on fumes. If you are a caregiver, please take care of yourself—call a friend, a family member, or a member of the ministry team if you would like to chat.   ~ Geoffrey

Presbytery would like YOUR input!!

Presbytery would like YOUR input!!

The Presbytery of Calgary-Macleod supports 13 congregations in southern Alberta and seeks to encourage healthy congregations and healthy ministers.  Every minister (Rev. Laurie) and one elder (Lynn Judd) from each congregation are members of presbytery.
Recently, Presbytery has committed to engage more intentionally with congregations.
This questionnaire from Presbytery is intended to ‘check in’ on how we are doing as a congregation and to get our advice on what presbytery could do to assist us.  The hope is that information gathered will help them to see any overall themes within the congregations in the Presbytery, and, through comparison with results from two years ago, see whether Presbytery is improving in the support it provides. As the Presbytery Representative from St. Andrews, I encourage everyone to respond to the questions as you are able.  The deadline is February 28th.
