Growing Life Together with God

LinX Email for April 30, 2025
May 4, 2025 - What is this Peace he gives us?

May 4, 2025 - What is this Peace he gives us?

Rev. Fiona Swanson

Jesus says to his disciples “Peace be with you”  on many occasions throughout the gospels as well as many of our letter writers - and even Old Testament - but what is this peace that comes from knowing Christ - is it more than a simple greeting - or words of farewell?
May the fourth be with you.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

Well, let me tell you ~ there were NO dull people on Friday night in the KE Lounge!!!  Lots of St. Andrew’s FUN PEOPLE were in attendance at the Family Games Night, where indeed a FUN TIME was had by all!!   There may have been a few competitive spirits involved (just sayin’!)  ~  but even those spirits were mostly filled with laughter and more laughter!  Whether you were playing Clue, Golf, Scrabble, Aggravation, Pictionary, Quiddler… or anything else I’ve missed… those in attendance enjoyed getting to know each other better, especially in such a fun environment!  Thanks to the  Welcome & Connection Team for initiating this event for us to meet together and enjoy each other’s company.   If you missed this Family Games Night, watch for the next opportunity - you’ll be glad you did!!

Ladies Guild News

Ladies Guild News

At our March meeting, we were treated to a presentation by Jennifer Brookman, Manager of Operations at the Calgary Branch of Basically Babies, a not-for-profit organization. Jennifer gave us an energetic talk on this group which organizes and gifts one whole year’s worth of clothes and necessary articles - from birth to one year - to families in need of this support. Great care is taken to gather and provide colour coordinated, gently used clothing for this purpose.
For our May meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 13 Guild members will be making a day trip to the Basically Babies warehouse (#5, 2616-16th Street NE) for a tour. There will also be an opportunity, for those who wish, to volunteer sorting donated baby clothes.
We’ll be car-pooling from the church
with an earlier than usual start, meeting at 11:45.
The tour and volunteering orientation will begin at 12:30 p.m.
If you’d like to join us, please contact Sylvia Shaw (sylvia.shaw@shaw.ca, or 403-238-3369)

And you can Pave the Way with your sponsorship of Craig. Your charitable donation to Pave the Way in support of Craig’s ride is 100% tax receiptable. Let’s all get behind Craig and help him Pave the Way for St. Andrew’s! No amount is too small — or too big!!!
You may donate online to Pave the Way, by cheque to St Andrew’s (marked Pave the Way), or by e-transfer to treasurer@standrewscalgary.ca
We are all behind you, Craig, as you help Pave the Way forward for St. Andrew’s!

Do your fingers need some exercise for an important ministry?

Do your fingers need some exercise for an important ministry?

Calling all knitters, crocheters, or anyone who wants to learn! One of the many wonderful ministries here at St. Andrew's is a Prayer Shawl ministry, giving a handmade shawl that has been prayed over while it is being woven together to someone who could use the comfort of a warm reminder that a community is praying for them.
If you aren't super handy with yarn or have some yarn taking up space at home, we would happily use it to create prayer shawls too, that way everyone gets to be involved!
This is an ongoing ministry, and we would love you to join us anytime, but currently we are in need of some being made by early June.
If you are interested in getting involved with this ministry, please contact Shelby Cole either by email or phone to get more information!       403-465-5282 /shelbyc@live.ca
