May 11, 2025 - “Atomic Changes”Rev. Laurie McKay A child becomes an adult, then has children of their own, creating a grandmother and grandfather. This “turning ourselves” from one thing to another comes because and in spite of us. We marvel at this turning on Christian Family Sunday, with awe and gratitude. As Christians we are called to participate in that turning from sheep to shepherd, from receiving to offering compassion and love.

Grateful Thankful BlessedThe Ladies’ Guild contribute to the Community in meaningFULL ways Last month the Guild received a letter of thanks from the Principal of Centennial High School. Here is a brief synopsis: The Guild’s money goes to a fund that supports students facing financial challenges and food insecurities. But this year the money, according to the principal, goes to something ‘really beautiful’. Several students (including non-verbal kids who experience severe autism and other complexities), most of whom are unable to participate in their whole-school Graduation Ceremony, will have a special Grad Ceremony. Students will cross the stage, with families and loved ones in attendance. They will be presented with certificates, personalized plaques, and Grad hoodies adorned with artwork designed by one of the students. The cost of this special grad will be covered entirely by this generous donation from the Guild. The principal ended his letter saying, “We are grateful that such thoughtful, kind-hearted people as yourselves think about our students and our school.” Bless you, Ladies Guild!! |

Ladies Guild News
At our March meeting, we were treated to a presentation by Jennifer Brookman, Manager of Operations at the Calgary Branch of Basically Babies, a not-for-profit organization. Jennifer gave us an energetic talk on this group which organizes and gifts one whole year’s worth of clothes and necessary articles - from birth to one year - to families in need of this support. Great care is taken to gather and provide colour coordinated, gently used clothing for this purpose. |

Do your fingers need some exercise for an important ministry?
Calling all knitters, crocheters, or anyone who wants to learn! One of the many wonderful ministries here at St. Andrew's is a Prayer Shawl ministry, giving a handmade shawl that has been prayed over while it is being woven together to someone who could use the comfort of a warm reminder that a community is praying for them. |

Have you ever looked at the world and felt overwhelmed by injustice?
Kairos is an ecumenical network of people who want to make a difference in the world around real justice issues, in response to the Biblical requirement to "Seek Justice, Love Kindness and walk humbly with our God". (Micah 6:8). Together we are stronger. Please consider attending the G7 People's Forum on June 12-15th in Calgary. The People's Forum will provide worship, workshops, international speakers, time at the Stoney Nakoda Medicine Wheel, and public action to learn and engage in justice. The idea of Jubilee is from Hebrew Scripture, that every 50th year, the slaves would be released, debt forgiven, and the land rested to restore harmony in all creation. This year is a Jubilee year and together we learn what it means to Turn Debt into Hope. The conference is held at Ambrose University and a bus will transport participants to Stoney Nakoda land on Saturday.
