Growing Life Together with God

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
LinX Email for May 14, 2025
May 18, 2025 - “Happy Birthday to the Presbyterian Church…Twice!”

May 18, 2025 - “Happy Birthday to the Presbyterian Church…Twice!”

Rev. Peter Coutts

Who gets to have two birthdays?  Well, we do as Presbyterians! In 2025 we mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of our denomination, and the 100th anniversary of the re-founding of our denomination.  Confused? Today we will have a history lesson about the fight we “continuing Presbyterians” had to stay out of the new United Church in Canada (also celebrating its 100th birthday this year). Why we thought remaining Presbyterian was important then, and wondering about remaining so in the years to come. What does Scripture say about divisions in the Church?

The REAL meaning of ‘SERVICE’ with a smile!

Last Saturday, May 10th, a crew of hearty and helpful volunteers met at St. Andrew’s to participate in the Spring Clean-up.  Josh Barrett is proof that service with a smile is the way to go as we work together to be the hands and feet of the God we serve.  Thank you to EVERYONE who came out and made sure we are taking good care of St. Andrew’s.  We are grateful for your SERVICE!

Do your fingers need some exercise for an important ministry?

Do your fingers need some exercise for an important ministry?

Calling all knitters, crocheters, or anyone who wants to learn! One of the many wonderful ministries here at St. Andrew's is a Prayer Shawl ministry, giving a handmade shawl that has been prayed over while it is being woven together to someone who could use the comfort of a warm reminder that a community is praying for them.
If you aren't super handy with yarn or have some yarn taking up space at home, we would happily use it to create prayer shawls too, that way everyone gets to be involved!
This is an ongoing ministry, and we would love you to join us anytime, but currently we are in need of some being made by early June.
If you are interested in getting involved with this ministry, please contact Shelby Cole either by email or phone to get more information!       403-465-5282 /shelbyc@live.ca

Indigenous 101 - June 20-21

Indigenous 101 - June 20-21

Why does the church emphasize right relations with Indigenous Peoples? Why is the Presbyterian Church apologizing? We didn't personally harm, so why are we seeking reconciliation?
Indigenous 101 is an entry-level workshop offered by an Indigenous Anglican priest and professor at Vancouver School of Theology, Rev. Ray Aldred. Come to this free workshop (by donation only) and enjoy a full learning experience, including lunch, sponsored by St. Giles Presbyterian.
