Sep 21, 2025 - Thin Places

Sep 21, 2025 - Thin Places

Rev. Laurie McKay

Thin places are where heaven comes close to earth. Celtic Christians associated the phrase with the infusion of the Divine presence in certain locations. Thin places are everywhere. Jesus becomes our “thin place” and invites us to encounter and embody them - wherever we are.

Grateful, Thankful, Blessed

Grateful, Thankful, Blessed

So long summer, hello fall

As we say good-bye to summer and welcome in the fall, churches around the world start to buzz again with activity.  Like lots of churches, St. Andrew’s was certainly alive and well over the summer, but lots of things slowed down to allow people to spend their evenings in particular, with family and friends on their back decks or visiting new places and spaces.  Now that fall is here we find ourselves once again opening our doors and hearts to welcome back the ‘regular rhythm’ of church life ~ Sunday services, church school, Bible Studies and topical studies, team meetings, groups meeting in our spaces ~ there seems to be something for everyone!!!   We are grateful for such a wonderful church building ~ one that welcomes everyone ~ as we seek to Grow Life Together With God in this space.

Baptism & Membership

Baptism & Membership

Want to join St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church?
Want to be baptised into the Family of Followers of Jesus?
Membership is a tricky concept in the church.  Who is a member?  Those who attend?  Those who donate?  Those who came as a child 30 years ago?  Membership is a commitment to show up and participate in the active life of the congregation through time, talent and money.  A "regular attender" might not attend every week as in the past, as some people have to work on Sunday, have family commitments, and are experiencing transitions.
YOU DECIDE, by choosing to BE BAPTISED.
If baptised as an infant,  you become a member by PROFESSION OF FAITH, answering the questions asked of your parents for yourself.
If you are a member elsewhere but have moved,
we can TRANSFER YOUR MEMBERSHIP.
Regardless, you are welcome here at St. Andrew's.
May God bless you with a sense of belonging and an opportunity to contribute as part of this community of faith.
If you would like to join us as a member, or if you desire to be baptised or to have your children baptised, please contact the office or speak with me.
~  Rev. Laurie

MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying)

MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying)

Compassionate Choices at End of Life - Sept 30, 7:00 pm - KE Lounge

It is likely that you, a loved one, or someone you know has been directly affected by MAiD. We would like to help people make informed, compassionate choices as they or their loved ones consider end-of-life decisions—or live in the aftermath of those who have undertaken a MAiD procedure.
We will gather not to debate, but to discern and broaden our understanding. MAiD invites us into a space where compassion, autonomy, suffering and ethics intersect.
Please register by signing up in the Foyer, calling the church office at 403.255.0001, or emailing office@standrewscalgary.ca

Those were the days just so recently enjoyed.  But wait!!  There is a use for all those books!!  Please box them up and save them for resale at the St. Andrew's Bazaar.  Keep them warm and safe until mid-November when they will end up warming the hands of a grateful shopper.  Many thanks in advance.
