Growing Life Together with God

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
LinX Email for October 1, 2025
October 5, 2025 - Increase our Faith! (World Wide Communion)

October 5, 2025 - Increase our Faith! (World Wide Communion)

Rev. Laurie McKay

“Increase our faith!” the disciples cried.  We still long to have more faith when surrounded by an imperfect world.  Scripture tells us that “the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.  So do not be ashamed.”  Like the smallest rudder helping navigate the uncertain seas, so the smallest faith in a powerful God, makes all the difference.

Minister, Moderator, Marvel

On Tuesday, September 25 our very own Rev. Laurie McKay was inducted as Moderator of the Presbytery of Calgary-Macleod.  You will notice Laurie is wearing a mask to keep others safe from ‘travel germs’.  The outgoing Moderator, Heather Bryant, and Rev. Laurie bumped elbows in celebration of this transition!  This will be a ‘more than busy’ year for Rev. Laurie, so give her all the encouragement you can as she is now OUR Minister, PRESBYTERY’S Moderator, and quite simply a MARVEL!  St. Andrew’s and Presbytery are blessed to have such a dedicated, positive, and energetic presence in our midst.

Intergenerational Christmas Musical

Intergenerational Christmas Musical

Sunday, November 23

This year our musical will focus on what it truly means to belong.  Gloria is a young girl who’s been adopted and is a little unsure about sharing her story.  She finds the courage to open up, discovering that Christmas is actually a story of adoption too.  Just like she was lovingly chosen by her family, we’ve been lovingly adopted into God’s family.
You are never too YOUNG or too OLD to participate.  The more the merrier!   Practices will be set up once I know the best times for the people who are able to sing with us.  Add your name to the sign up sheet in the Foyer, and I’ll be in touch once practice dates have been set.  Come join us for the fun, and the music and message of Christmas!!

Caring and Connecting Corner

Caring and Connecting Corner

“Mental Health for all”
That is the tagline for the recently merged Canadian Mental Health Association Alberta and the Centre for Suicide Prevention, whose vision is “Connected, resilient communities with pathways to mental wellbeing for all.” A death by suicide is a tragic marker in many families’ lives; the joint organization recognizes that “preventing suicide and promoting mental health begins in building connected, resilient communities,” CEO Mara Grunau says.
The upcoming Sanctuary mental health program at St. Andrew’s will help equip us to be a sanctuary where mental health issues can be openly discussed. Call the office to register.  Wellness and mental wellbeing are part of the gospel call to wholeness and healing.
