When I was 24 years old, a colleague asked me, “How do you become a Christian?” I had no idea. Over the following decades (“Decades! Yikes!”) I have heard different answers. I’ve since landed on the idea that becoming a Christian is NOT just “one and done”, whatever the “one” is. “Becoming” is ongoing… a process… We call it “sanctification”.
I know: big preacher word, but I’ll explain on Sunday.

Summer is often a time to renew our spirits. Maybe you got to visit family you haven’t seen for awhile, maybe you got to be in the great ‘out of doors’ enjoying nature and no cell phones! Maybe you just sat in your back yard and read a book that had nothing to do with expanding your mind and more to do with feeding your sense of fun! As we ease back into fall, may we look at ways we can serve as opportunities to make a difference in each other’s lives, not as something we ‘have to do’, or ‘one more night out’, or ‘one more meeting’. We are blessed with many opportunities to serve in many ways. I hope you each find just the right one that will feed your soul!!! Please join me in wishing Rev. Laurie a renewing ‘last week of vacation’ for 2026. She certainly deserves every second of renewal she can get!!

This Sunday, Sep 27 is the start of our Up High Church School class for youth GRADES 7 - 12 in the Upper Room. Youth will come into worship for the beginning of the service, and then go up to their class following the children’s time.

During Covid (remember when?), we took all of our ‘Red’ Books of Psalms out of the pews along with the Bibles and Hymn Books. We have returned the Bibles and Hymn Books, but as we are now projecting most service components onto the screen, Session made a decision that it would no longer be necessary to have the red Psalters in the pews. FOR THE REST OF SEPTEMBER, there will be a table in the foyer with red Psalters on it. PLEASE TAKE ONE HOME WITH YOU if you would like one. Those left will be donated.

St. Andrew’s Session has been considering ways we can invite people to share in ministry, in Growing. Life. Together. With God. How can we be more inclusive in worship participation for our people? One thing we have been discussing is including more people in serving Communion. We would like to include youth, elders, people who used to be on Session, as well as people who have never been on Session! If you would like to be included in this way, there is a sign-up sheet in the Foyer. Anyone who signs up and is new to serving will be contacted to meet with Rev. Laurie and a few elders for a short time to talk about what Communion means, and what your role will be on Communion Sunday. People who are new to serving will be paired with an elder who has served before, so everyone will have a partner! We hope you see this as an exciting way to share in ministry together. Serving Communion is indeed one of our highest privileges.
