Epiphany 3: Brightening the Doorway - Life-Giving Unity - Dr. Tim

January 23, 2022 – 10:00 am Sunday Worship Service

Sometimes we sing a song called, They’ll know we are Christians by our love. It begins,  “We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord.” In this week’s reading Paul compares that kind of unity to the various parts of a human body—with all its very distinct and different parts that function together as a co-ordinated whole. But unity is not easy for us these days. And greater unity doesn’t just come from good feelings—unity comes from something deeper…
Join us this week to explore what that something deeper is...

To prepare for Sunday’s worship, you can read:
1 Corinthians 12: 23-31a

During Sunday Worship, here are activity sheets for all ages & stages:
3+   7+   Youth    Adult

Please join us for in-person worship at 10:00 Sunday morning (no need to register); or use the link below which will be updated Sunday morning by 9:30 am to take you to our live streamed service.

Hospitality – The Ministry of Welcome

Hospitality – The Ministry of Welcome

Throughout the next few weeks we will be considering the images and actions of “brightening the doorway” – our own doorways, whether those of St. Andrew’s or our homes, and the doorways of others. How appropriate, then, to revisit this article by John-Peter Smit, first published in May 2011. He writes about the Ministry of Welcome: How we do it and how we might do it better. While the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and related restrictions obviously affect some of the examples, the message still applies as we “brighten the doorways.”
Here's to brightly welcoming!

Calgary Faithful Innovation Discussion:

Calgary Faithful Innovation Discussion:

How is God inviting us to innovate with how we show up as the visible body of Christ in the world?

On January 27th @ 7pm MST, I invite you to join Cyclical Calgary-Macleod online to reflect on what Faithful Innovation means for your and your community. We will spend some time connecting with other leaders as we answer and reflect on the question:
How is God inviting us to innovate with how we show up as the visible body of Christ in the world?

Whether you are just starting to feel the nudge to innovate, or you are knee deep in innovation, you are invited to join this discussion with other local leaders. Congregants, Elders, ministers, students, or anyone curious about faithful innovation are all welcome to join. As the church continues to shift and respond to our changing world, we are called into faithful innovation. Come ready to connect with other leaders as we answer and reflect on this importamt question

Afghan refugee families are being settled in Calgary and they are needing support.

Afghan refugee families are being settled in Calgary and they are needing support.

You can help in a couple of ways.

1) Donate household, furniture, baby and clothing items to any WIN (Women In Need) store in clearly marked boxes labeled HOUSE TO HOME PROGRAM AFGHAN REFUGEE PROGRAM.  Families have referrals to go to WIN stores to get what they need for free.  The Women in Need Society (WINS) is an award winning charity and Calgary based shopping alternative investing in the social wellbeing of community.

2) Donate $25 gift certificates for the Canadian Superstore as there is a constant need for immediate support in purchasing groceries.  These will be distributed to families as needed. Please bring any gift certificates to St. Andrew’s Church Office identified for Afghan refugees.

Please contact Lynn Judd if you have questions 403-278-5904.
