September 15, 2024 - Bridling our tongue - Lessons from a Horse

Rev. Laurie McKay

How can you bridle a horse or a tongue when they are wild?  A horse whisperer might teach us how to “join up” and follow the One who holds the reins.

Grateful/Thankful/Blessed - Family Camping Weekend

Grateful/Thankful/Blessed - Family Camping Weekend

We are thankful, grateful and blessed to have experienced another memorable Family Camping Weekend in August at Sandy McNabb campground.  Over 40 campers and day trippers joined in the fun.
We enjoyed campfires, walks in the forest, skipping rocks in the river, playing games, watching kids laugh and hunt for grasshoppers, and time spent with friends.
We were happy to have some new faces join us too.
Our weekend ended with a very special outdoor worship service led by Rev. Peter.  We are most grateful for his time and leadership in making it so meaningful.  Thank you!
All would not be possible without Craig & Inge Murray, who organize it all!  Thank you to everyone who came out, participated and made the weekend so much fun!

Request from the STEW CREW

Request from the STEW CREW

The stew crew has been tasked with the preparation of approximately 25 gallons of stew for the Indigenous Friendship Day on Sept 28. We are looking for COUNTERTOP ROASTERS, which would make the preparation of the stew much easier.
If you have a countertop oven roaster ( not a slow cooker) that we could borrow,  please bring it to the church no later than Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Thanks to everyone in advance.

A small group of us (Bill Judd, Mark Rowe, Judy Bridgemohan, Jarrett Hoefling, Rev. Laurie and Peter Coutts) have been working away for about 18 months moving the idea of an Indigenous Friendship Day into being. It’s now about four weeks away. Now we really, really, really need your help! REALLY!!

From our Wellness Team

From our Wellness Team

Over the years our Wellness Team has changed its name, membership and mandate and occasionally asked the congregation for input related to future planning.
This Fall we are asking for your feedback once again as we look at health topic planning for the upcoming season.
We have put together a 10 question survey, which will be available in the September 4,11 and 18 editions of LinX . We ask that you take a few minutes to fill it out on line to let us know what health information and activities you would like.

Who can’t use more HOPE in their lives?!?

Who can’t use more HOPE in their lives?!?

Register by Monday, September 23 to join in this important discussion!!

We have a special opportunity to hear from this year’s Moderator of the PCC, Rev. Dr. Patricia Dutcher-Walls on Monday, September 30th at 9:30 am in Trinity Hall.  Rev. Dr. Patricia will be challenging us to think about:   How does the Spirit lead the early church toward hopefulness?  How might we take inspiration from our biblical traditions to help discern possibilities for our future?
