Ernie Poundmaker will bring teaching around truth and reconciliation

On this day after our Indigenous Friendship Day, we celebrate what we hold in common with all people - a loving heart, a desire to see our children reach their full potential, and a meaningful life of engagement that reflects God’s glory.  Elder Ernie Poundmaker will be our guest teacher from the Cree tradition.

Invitation from the Rainbow Team - Friday, October 18th, 7:00-8:30 pm - Karl English Lounge

Please join St. Andrew's Rainbow Team for a Film and Conversation night.  We will be watching the documentary "Fish out of water" (2009) by Ky Dickens. The filmaker identifies how the LGBTQ community has been deeply hurt by the misinterpretation of a handful of bible passages which made Ky feel like "A fish out of water" within her own faith community when she came out. Please note that the film contains mature themes such as violence toward the LGBTQ community and self-harm. Feel free to stay after the film to share your thoughts and insights about the film, and/or to listen to the insights of others. Refreshments will be served.

2 ORANGE TABLECOTHS

The office is looking for 2 ORANGE tablecloths that have disappeared from our bin.  If you happened to take them home to wash, could you call the office and let us know you have them?  We’d like to have one to use this Sunday Sep 29.  Thanks so much!

Equipping Congregations for Mission in their Communities!

The Centre for Missional Leadership at St. Andrew’s Hall invites congregations to sign up a team for our 1 year Certificate Program beginning in September 2024.  Over five Saturdays (September 28, November 23, January 25, March 22 and April 26), in person or online, congregational teams will explore the impact of secularism on the church, develop practices for deeper shared life together, reshape Sunday mornings, equip congregations with lay leaders, and experiment with mission in the broader neighbourhood.  Join Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart, Rev. Dr. Tim Dickau, Rev. Albert Chu and Andrea Perrett from the CML team for this learning adventure!  Recognizing the growing number of congregations without clergy, this certificate program is designed for all lay person teams, and includes coaching as part of the process.  Sign up today by emailing cml@standrews.edu

Grace and peace,
