March 6 - Walking with Jesus: Discovery, Desolation, and Delight. - Dr. Geoffrey

March 6 - Walking with Jesus: Discovery, Desolation, and Delight. - Dr. Geoffrey

As Lent 2022 begins, we embark on a new series — Walking with Jesus: Discovery, Desolation, and Delight.
We will walk with Jesus to places where our hearts and minds are opened. We will walk in some hard and arid places, and in some places where God’s healing presence seems close to hand. We will walk with those who sing out the joy of Jesus’ presence. This week, Jesus shows us the model of how God calls to  walk along a good path. Come, let us walk with Jesus.
To prepare for this Sunday's service, you can read  Luke 4:1-13
During Sunday Worship, here are activity sheets (based on today’s scripture reading) for all ages and stages:
3+   7+   Youth    Adult
Please join us for in-person worship at 10:00 Sunday morning to hear how ‘all things worked for good’. (no need to register); or use the link below which will be updated Sunday morning by 9:30 am to take you to our live streamed service.

Listening to Your Thoughts on Same-Sex Marriage and the Ordination of LGBTQI Ministers and Ruling Elders

Listening to Your Thoughts on Same-Sex Marriage and the Ordination of LGBTQI Ministers and Ruling Elders

In June 2021 the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada passed two resolutions:
1) to ordain LGBTQI ministers and ruling elders
2) to affirm both the traditional definition of marriage as “a covenant between a man and a woman” as well as marriage being a “covenant relationship between two adult persons.”

Our denomination (the Presbyterian Church in Canada) will affirm both the traditional definition “marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman" as well as marriage being a “covenant relationship between two adult persons”, and the ordination of LGBTQI ministers and ruling elders.

Each Session is required to work through these decisions. With your help, we want to provide generous space for you to prayerfully discern what these resolutions mean for St. Andrew's as we Grow Life Together With God.

The survey in the link below is intended to give the Session insight into the opinions that exist within our congregation.
Click the link below to submit your responses before March 8, and mark your calendar for the discussion & learning series beginning March 16.

Prayer for the People of Ukraine

Prayer for the People of Ukraine

In light of the emerging conflict in Ukraine we lift up and support the responses of our partner faith communities who express concern for those citizens who are being displaced and in need of our advocacy and care. We condemn all violence and destruction and call upon our leaders in Canada to help diffuse this situation and restore peace to the areas now under military conflict.

In our humble way, from our various faith traditions, we offer the following prayer:

We pray for the faithfulness of all leaders who serve in our name,
We pray for the conscience of humanity to know
right from wrong, and act accordingly,
We pray for those in harm's way, that there will be swift support and comfort for everyone being displaced and put in danger.
We have each known strife,
We have each known loss,
We have each known the capacity for horrors in our humanity.
We stand with the people of Ukraine
We stand for the rights of the oppressed
We stand with the afflicted
We stand for the freedom of everyone in creation.
May we learn right action at this time,
To support those in need,
To calm the flames of wars,
To hear reason and mercy,In the lessons each of us has learned
From this exact moment in our history,
May we help to find the path to peace
And begin leading all conflicts to their end.

We call upon our communities of faith to discern the way that is most fitting for their tradition, whether through prayer, fasting, meditation or other faith tradition, to seek the peace and safety for the people of Ukraine, and all those affected by conflict and violence in the world.
