Grateful/Thankful/Blessed

Grateful/Thankful/Blessed

This Sunday is the beginning of the Advent season.  Many faith communities around the world set aside this time to prepare our hearts, homes, and churches ~ for Christ’s birth.  Whether this time is expressed through prayer, meaningful music, reading and reflection, or a myriad of other ways, may this season not ‘pass you by’ this year.  Be thankful for the freedom we have to live out and share our Christian and family traditions.  We are Christmas people.
A people of ~ Hope ~ Peace ~ Joy ~ and Love.

Life after Loss Service - Guest: Rev. Rick Beck

Monday, November 28 at 7:30 pm.

Loss is a part of life we all experience whether it is grieving the death of a loved one, dealing with the stresses of a broken relationship, job / financial insecurity or decrease in independence due to health issues. All are invited to join us for a very informative and heartwarming address by Rev. Rick Beck.  Since his retirement as a pastor with the Moravian Church, Rick's current ministerial practice of spiritual direction is as an instructor and supervisor at the FCJ Centre. We are very excited he has agreed to join us and share words of wisdom from his many and varied life experiences.

Please join us for an in person worship service Monday, November 28th at 7:30 pm, followed by a time of conversation and coffee in the KE Lounge.  (A live-stream is available for those who cannot attend)

Hey youth! We’re starting our Advent study called “Because of Bethlehem” this Friday. It’s one of my favourite studies to do for Advent and I’m happy to share it with you! Come ready to learn! We’ll have snacks and finish off with something fun! Either a Mario party tournament or some sort of big church game! See you then!

Hackers are still at it

Hackers are still at it

Several people have let me know that they have received emails from ‘Rev. Peter’ asking for assistance or a phone call.  Please remember that if Peter was reaching out to you, he would be more specific than ‘Have you got a sec?’ or ‘I need your help’.  If you are in doubt, get in touch with the church office (office@standrewscalgary.ca),  but more than likely these ‘cryptic’ emails are from hackers.  Our advice:  DELETE, AND DO NOT RESPOND.~ Debby

The Wider Community

Woven into the Neighbourhood – Next Steps in Pursuing Our Mission

Woven into the Neighbourhood – Next Steps in Pursuing Our Mission

You are probably wondering, “So what’s happening with our new direction to get woven into our immediate neighbourhood and help out?” Three weeks ago the city social worker for Kingsland held a gathering of people from different organizations who all want to help out in that neighbourhood. Present were the Principal of St. Augustine School, reps from three churches (including six from ours), the Kingsland Community Association as well as people from three agencies: Carya, the Trellis Society and CUPS. We learned more about the needs in this neighbourhood.  Do you want to hear what they are? Are you considering jumping in to help us “learn our way forward” into our congregation’s mission? Would you like to help us figure out how we can start small towards making a difference for those who live around us? Join us after worship on Sunday December 4th for a one hour (max) meeting in Trinity Hall. Coffee, tea and a few goodies will be provided. Come help us figure out our next step!
