MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR DEC 3RD!

On Monday, Nov 6th, St. Andrew’s Session and Search Team unanimously voted to ask someone to preach for the call here at St. Andrew’s on Sunday, DECEMBER 3rd at 10:00 am.  Following worship, we will have a congregational meeting to discuss the call.
Mark your calendars, and watch for more information in the days ahead.  We will be sharing the name of the candidate at the end of November, and sending out information for you to
read.  But for now… MARK THOSE CALENDARS!!
We NEED a full house Dec 3rd!

Sometimes we all need a little help from our friends.

Sometimes we all need a little help from our friends.

Mathilde & Willem Van der Merwe faced a busy time in November, as Willem’s brother and his family arrived in Calgary and stayed with them.  Meal Train friends stepped up immediately (Joan Rowe, Barbara Kearnes, Pat Tritter, Debbie Draper and Lynn Judd).  Mathilde sent a NOTE OF GRATITUDE, expressing thanks to “all who graciously fed us and the new arrivals so well.  It made a huge difference for me not having to think, plan and prepare food.  Because of this community who stepped up, we managed to do our work and focus on relationships during this transition time which was unsettling for all.  We feel so cared for.  I definitely would like to be added to the Meal Train as a contributor so I can pay it forward for someone else again in the future.’  ~ Mathilde
That’s what it means to be part of a faith community ~ a church family.  Give and receive.  Pay it forward when you can.  We are ALL blessed by sharing this journey together.  ~ Debby

Please remember to have a look at the bookshelves in the Karl English Lounge beside the Kitchen area, and take as many books as you would like.  We will be taking any left over books from these shelves and donating them in another week or so. This will be the end of the adult library ‘as we now know it’.
When all the books are gone from these shelves, we will be putting a few of our ‘more recently purchased’ books back on the shelves that will be set up as a ‘small honour system library’ – ie., read in your own time and then return so others may borrow it.
Reminder:  the children’s library in the basement will continue to exist in its current form.

Healing through Loss

Healing through Loss

Everyone is invited to consider joining us for an evening of reflection and fellowship Monday November 27th at 7:30 PM. Live streaming will also be available.  Our guest speaker, Terri Wexler, has a masters degree in social work and has trained with Dr. Alan Wolfelt of the Centre for Loss and Life Transition.  Her area of expertise for over 25 years includes companioning those individuals with myriad types of losses as well as bereavement.
Our very talented guest musicians, Bethany Wickens (vocalist) and John Cabalsa (pianist), will also provide an excellent experience for us.

The beginning of Advent is only two weeks away. Traditionally St. Andrew’s sets up a nativity display of angels, a manger, and Christmas lights on our front lawn during Advent. The Facilities team invites all congregation members to join us on Saturday November 25th at 11:00 am to set-up our Advent display. We expect the set-up should take about 60-90 minutes.  Please join us - it’s a great way to start our Christmas celebrations!  ~  Don Koch

Don't forget the meaning of the manger!

St. Giles will be part of Presbyterians Read, studying Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Advent meditations, ‘God is in the Manger’, during Advent.  We still have a little room, should anyone like to join us.  The study will be held Mondays at 1:30, starting November 27th for four weeks and requires purchase of the book.  If you have any questions, please contact Sandra Cameron Evans at sandracameronevans@gmail.com or 403-277-2331.
