Dedication Lived Out

As Session has released the Search Team from its work, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank the Search Team for the dedication and commitment all members have shown towards the search process over the past three and a half years. Current members include: Peter Coutts as our Interim Moderator, Judie Coleman, Bill Judd, Inge Murray, Bart Stolee, and Thelma Wagner. Thank you, dedicated team, for helping us get to the finish line. I also wanted to thank our past members who provided guidance and support along the way. Our previous interim moderators, the late Dianne Ollerenshaw, Fiona Swanson, and Jean Morris. Our previous co-conveners, Ken Burrill and Cathy Millar, and former members: Kevin MacFarlane, Clem McLaughlin, David Kurtz, and Tim Archibald. Thank you all current and past members for your willingness to assist us in the search process. Every one of you brought skills, knowledge, experience, and mentorship to the process of discerning what it looks like to Call a new minister to St. Andrew’s so we can step into this new ministry and serve God together.
~ Lorna Andronikou, Convener, Search Team

As you have heard, we will be welcoming Rev. Laurie McKay into our faith family in February as our Lead Minister.

As you have heard, we will be welcoming Rev. Laurie McKay into our faith family in February as our Lead Minister.

On Sunday morning (Jan 28) there will be a ‘board of stickies’ in the Foyer indicating something you can contribute towards a ‘welcome wagon gift basket’ for Rev. Laurie.  The board will include options like ‘apple cider vinegar’, ‘extra virgin olive oil’, a $5.00 donation, a $10.00 donation…   many, many options, both for shoppers and those who don’t like to shop!  The donations of money will be used to purchase some gift cards for Laurie, and also to provide cash to her in case she needs to buy a lawn mower, a couple of deck chairs, or an extension cord for her new home!!
So… on Sunday morning, if you’d like to contribute, please pick up a stickie, do your shopping or donating, and have your contribution into the church office by Wednesday, February 7th.
If you are not able to get to the church but would like to participate, please call the church office at 403-255-0001.  We’ll make sure you have an opportunity to be part of the ‘welcome wagon gift basket’!!!
~ Inge, Stephanie, Dolly & Deb

HOW can we possibly say a big enough ... THANK YOU???

HOW can we possibly say a big enough ... THANK YOU???

In March of 2022 Rev. Peter Coutts ‘hit the ground running’ as our Interim Minister for the first year, and as our Interim Moderator the second year.  As his work with us started, Peter focused on Session Development, Congregational Development, and Congregational Direction.  Daunting?  Just a tad!  But Peter’s approach was ‘one chunk at a time’.  He helped us build on our mission and vision statements in creating a strategic direction for us at this time in our faith journey.  He listened to us, he comforted us, he challenged us.
And perhaps the most important thing that Peter has done for us in the last two years is to care for and about us.  He has worked hard to help us try and meet each other’s needs ~ as a session, as a congregation, as a church family.  Peter has a heart for St. Andrew’s, and we are grateful beyond words for his care and concern, his wisdom and dedication, and his leadership these past 2 years.
We are also grateful, thankful and blessed to know that although Peter will be stepping down from his current ministerial roles, he fully intends to remain a faithful member of St. Andrew’s and contribute to our life together – just in different ways.
The office will be collecting a ‘Monetary Gift’ to present to Peter on his last ‘sermon Sunday’ – February 11, 2024.  If you would like to contribute, please contact the church office or speak with Dolly or Debby.  ~  Debby Dorcas

Thank you, thank you! That's the feedback from Claire House Residents

Thank you, thank you! That's the feedback from Claire House Residents

Dear St Andrews - Thank you, thank you, thank you.  We so appreciate your frequent friendship visits and the generous Christmas gift cards.'  ~ Claire House Residents
That's a summation of the feedback from our neighbours at Claire House as we continue our visits with them in this new year.
St Andrew’s, you outdid yourself.  An appeal for $3,250 in support of purchasing gift cards at Christmas for all the residents at Claire House ended with a total of $4,650 in donations.  We were able to give generously to each of 39 households, plus an extra amount for each of 29 children.  You might wonder how much this really does for anyone, but from the feedback we have received, it is clear that even a little extra is helpful for the moment and knowing that others care is something that lasts.  ~ Bill Judd
