Growing Life Together with God

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
LinX Email for May 22, 2024
 May 26, 2024 - Rev. Fiona Swanson

May 26, 2024 - Rev. Fiona Swanson

Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother's womb and be born? This conjures up some odd images and shows how literal Nicodemus and the other Pharisees took Jesus’ words.  How about us, figurative or literal?  Or maybe a bit of both.

On Sunday we were blessed with the enthusiasm of our children who, led by Desiree Henrichsen, showed us how to
DANCE WITH THE SPIRIT as we celebrated Pentecost.

We received a thank you card from Elaine and Emily on behalf of the CUPS Community - it reads:  We are absolutely blown away by your generosity and the success of ‘undie Sunday’.  Thank you for your commitment to lifting up your neighbours with dignity and love.  From Deb:  Thank you St. Andrew’s, for once again ‘loving like Jesus’.

Annual Spring Clean-up - THIS SATURDAY!!

Annual Spring Clean-up - THIS SATURDAY!!

Come out and help us keep St. Andrew’s looking its best ~ THIS SATURDAY from 8:00 - noon! Give us an hour or two of your time - there will be something for everyone ~ sweeping the parking lot, washing windows, cleaning eavestroughs, moving some gravel, and preparing our gardens for Spring.  Please join us as we give our church building a little light TLC.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer Opportunity

(Please consider this ~ sign-up sheets will be available next week)

We do our best to have a welcoming environment for those coming to our church building - even for those who just drive by!   But we need some help this summer with our flower gardens.   Last year, we had a very small team who came throughout the summer to work on the flowers.  They need help.   They cannot do it by themselves this year.
Next week there will be a sign-up sheet for those who might have 1-2 hours each week to come and ‘adopt a flower bed’.  If we have enough volunteers, this will be an enjoyable time in the great out-of-doors helping us keep our flower beds ‘a thing of beauty - God’s beauty’!!

Registration for Summer Camps

Registration for Summer Camps

Kannawin invites children and youth to experience  “the ultimate summer camp experience” at the only Presbyterian camp in Alberta, which is nestled in scenic Sylvan Lake, Alberta.
Camp Kannawin’s theme for the summer is the Life of Jesus. From the Christmas Story through to the resurrection, the life of Jesus will be explored with themed activities and crafts planned throughout the week. From resurrection gardens to nativity scenes, there will be plenty of opportunities for creative expression and learning.
The Boehm children from our congregation attended the camp last summer and have reported on  “nice counsellors, nice lake & good food!” They also noted that the water activities were a highlight of their experience.
Please visit the Camp Kannawin website for registration, prices, dates of the camps for each age group,  and other information. https://campkannawin.ca/

Sitting with Discomfort: Asking Hard Questions about Being Church Today

In this ever-changing world, our churches are at a crossroads, facing questions that can make us uncomfortable, questions that challenge the very way we think about our faith and community. But it's right here, in the midst of these challenges, where growth begins.
Join Rev. John Borthwick (Director of the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Knox College) on Saturday, May 25th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (In person and livestreamed via Zoom) at
