Growing Life Together with God

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
LinX Email for November 5, 2025
Nov 9, 2025 - “I know my Redeemer lives”

Nov 9, 2025 - “I know my Redeemer lives”

Rev. Fiona Swanson and Rev. Laurie McKay

The story of Job takes seriously the human experience of suffering.  Jesus takes our questions about what will happen after death seriously.  As we gather to remember all those who have served or died in war, we remember too that our suffering is noticed.  In the midst of death we proclaim with hope, “our Redeemer lives”.

Braves Wear Braids

Braves Wear Braids

In her land acknowledgement on Sunday, Stephanie Werle shared a story about her families’ friendship with the Starlights.  Through this relationship, Stephanie was made aware of the importance of braids to the Aboriginal community.  ‘Hair is a gift from the Creator’.
In response to the PCC’s direction to us to listen and learn from Indigenous people, click the link below to read Stephanie’s story, and then click on the link to the documentary.  Both are a worthwhile investment of time!  Listen and learn…

ONLINE Advent Study with Rev. Laurie

ONLINE Advent Study with Rev. Laurie

Monday Dec 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm

What would you do if you were not afraid?
Life can be daunting, filled with uncertainty and fears. It wasn’t any different two thousand years ago when Jesus was born. An aged priest is told he is about to become a father for the first time. A young woman is told she is going to give birth – outside the protection of marriage. A simple carpenter is asked to believe the impossible. A group of shepherds’ night on a hill is interrupted by a bright host of angels in the sky.  Yet, each of these encounters begins with the same refrain:
do not be afraid.
Those words, though, are not just words of comfort; they are an invitation and a calling from God. In this captivating Advent study and devotional, pastor Erin Wathen challenges us to take this timeless message and apply it to our lives today. Calling All Angels asks us to contemplate what would change in our relationships, vocations, congregations, and communities if we have the courage to overcome our fears like Mary, Joseph, Zechariah, and the Shepherds in the story.

SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS - A GRIEFSHARE PRESENTATION

SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS - A GRIEFSHARE PRESENTATION

The holidays can be stressful and exhausting even on the best of times. There are many expectations placed on us to be busy, joyful, excited and happy. Grief can make the holiday season more challenging, by amplifying feelings of loss, whether that loss is recent or years ago. A loved one’s absence can serve as a painful reminder and inevitable reality check. We hope that this video presentation followed by a short discussion time will help those dealing with grief and loss to find some comfort, support and helpful suggestions on how to navigate through the holiday season.
Your hosts will be your GriefShare facilitators – Judie Coleman, Clay Kuhn and Alice Williams . Come join us on SATURDAY DECEMBER 6, 2025 FROM 10-11.30 AM IN THE KARL ENGLISH LOUNGE.
We ask that you register on the GriefShare website : www.griefshare.org/findagroup or sign up in the foyer.
