Every servant of God reaches a moment when the results seem small, fragile, or futile. Yet flourishing does not depend on visible outcomes. It depends on God’s faithfulness and the servant’s alignment with God’s call.
What happens when our strength runs out? Scripture reminds us that God often works most clearly through those who feel overlooked, weary, or weak. We see again and again that God’s grace does not depend on human strength. In our weakness, God’s power is revealed. This is an invitation to reflect on how God’s strength is sufficient, even when the path is hard.

Dillon W. Hausauer is a communicator, speaker and preacher who explores resilience, meaning and flourishing in adversity. She works as a digital communications professional in healthcare and actively serves in the Presbyterian Church in Canada as an Elder on the Committee on Church Doctrine. Drawing from her experience with chronic health conditions, she inspires others to contribute while facing limitations. You can also find her writing in the Winter edition of the Presbyterian Connection newspaper.

Dear friends of Claire House at St Andrew's church ~ you got a big thank you from the CUPS Social Worker who helped to distribute our gift cards.  Your generosity was felt warmly throughout the Claire House community.  You exceeded our goal of $2,810, and in the end, we were able to purchase a $50 gift card for every household, plus extra for each child.  The cards were delivered in time for Christmas with a friendly greeting from all of us at St Andrew's.  At a time when some of the usual Christmas community supports were feeling the economic pinch and cutting back, this boost from us, a neighbour, was a very nice lift.  It appears there will actually be some money left-over which we plan to put to use in our on-going work of community-building at Claire House.

We can’t possibly list everything everyone does,

Solange (works Monday-Thursday, 9:00 - 2:30):

1. Books Rooms for meetings/events - for our teams, and for outside groups
2. Books meetings for Rev. Laurie
3. Responds to office@standrewscalgary.ca emails
4. Books zoom meetings for teams/groups

Dolly (works Monday-Thursday, 9:00 - 4:00):

1. Looks after ALL THINGS financial
2. Receives pastoral care information about our people, and passes that information on to the ministers and Care Connectors
3. Updates PowerChurch, which stores all of our ‘congregation information’ (like addresses and telephone numbers)

Debby (works Tuesday & Wednesday, 9:00 - 4:30):

1. ALL THINGS LinX  (receives information, writes articles, works with Kevin & Barbara MacFarlane on getting out weekly emails to those who have signed up to receive them)
2. Maintains/updates our Ministers’ and staff shared Worship Document, and creates a Sunday service document for the Ministers, choir, sound board people, ushers, and participants in the service
3. Updates the electronic sign (starting Jan 2026)

Please know that we are ALL willing to take whatever requests come our way and make sure they get to the right person - we know transitions take time… and that it will take ‘we Presbyterians’  time to get used to CHANGE!!!   :)

For over 25 years, the South Sudanese congregation has been worshiping in the afternoons each Sunday at St. Andrew's.  There are now approximately 80-90 people who gather.  They worship primarily in Nuer at 1:30 pm.  If you would like to experience African worship, you are always welcome!  Once a year, the congregation sponsors a feast to share with the morning congregation at St. Andrew's.  The feast planned for January 18th has been postponed to January 25 starting at 3:00.  You don't need to travel to Africa to get a taste of their culture, their food, and their warm hospitality.  Please join us for either worship at 1:30 in the Sanctuary,  or just the Feast on January 25 at 3:00 pm in Trinity Hall.

The Presbyterian College offers online studies that might be of interest to you.  One such study will be held within the Certificate in Lay Leadership program.  This study will help build your comfort and confidence in providing care and support to members of your congregation.  This study is for lay leaders already doing this work, and those who wish to explore this ministry.
