Sep 13, 2026 - Collective 2026 - SPECIAL NOON HOUR SERVICE

Rev. Laurie & Collective 2026 Youth and Leaders

What difference does Christian community make? Come and hear the impact on our youth and youth leaders who attended the national Presbyterian and United Church youth conference in St. Catharines, Ont. Today we join English and Nuer (South Sudanese) congregations in this celebration of our youth. Come and be inspired and guided by their voices. The service is followed by a potluck lunch in Trinity Hall.

MOVERS AND SHAKERS

The Faith Formation, Rainbow, and Facilities Teams would like to thank all those who helped move ALL the tables, ALL the chairs, ALL the ‘bits and pieces’ from ALL the rooms in the Faith Formation Wing (downstairs) on Sunday, August 23rd.
As we have shared previously, the carpet has been replaced with new flooring, walls have been painted, and the Lower Fireside Room will soon have a new, welcoming ‘facelift’. In order to replace the flooring, everything had to be moved into Trinity Hall, and then it had to be moved BACK!
So thank you to all who volunteered ~ special thanks to Matt Nolette and Brent Werle of the Facilities Team, and Inge Murray of the Faith Formation Team for their dedication in organizing these special movers and shakers!!!

The Book of Psalms

The Book of Psalms

During Covid (remember when?), we took all of our ‘Red’ Books of Psalms out of the pews along with the Bibles and Hymn Books. We have returned the Bibles and Hymn Books, but as we are now projecting most service components onto the screen, Session made a decision that it would no longer be necessary to have the red Psalters in the pews. FOR THE REST OF SEPTEMBER, there will be a table in the foyer with red Psalters on it. PLEASE TAKE ONE HOME WITH YOU if you would like one. Those left will be donated.

REMINDER - Our service this Sunday, September 13 starts at 12 NOON

REMINDER - Our service this Sunday, September 13 starts at 12 NOON

Please join us this Sunday, September 13th, as worship is led by Rev. Laurie and the youth and leaders who participated in the Collective conference in Ontario. This will be a joint service with our morning (English) and afternoon (Nuer) worshipping congregations, so parking will be a challenge. If you are able to park on a side street and walk to the church so those with mobility challenges can park in our parking lot, we would be most appreciative.
Following the service, EVERYONE is invited to a potluck lunch in Trinity Hall to share a meal together! Please bring something to share ~ you can take it down to the kitchen in Trinity Hall before worship. If you are bringing something hot, it will need to be in a crockpot. Otherwise, cold salads, sandwiches, other cold dishes – and DESSERTS are welcome!

Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Barbara Hogan (nee Budd)

Paul Hogan sent a link to the obituary of his mom. Barbara attended St. Andrew’s for many years, and Paul thought some members might like to know that she passed away. A funeral service was held this past Saturday at the Vulcan Church of Christ.

Preaching Grace 2026: The Cost of Ambition - with Miroslav Volf

Preaching Grace 2026: The Cost of Ambition - with Miroslav Volf

What is our ambition costing us - and is there a better way to pursue a meaningful life? That’s the question Yale Theologian, author, and one of the most influential Christian voices of our generation - will explore at Grace Presbyterian Church September 18 - 20.
Drawing on his work on ambition, comparison, and the good life, Dr. Volf will push past the workplace clichés about success and ask what a genuinely flourishing life looks like.

The weekend:

  •         Friday, Sept 18 — Free public lecture with Miroslav Volf
  •         Saturday, Sept 19 — Full-day workshop with catered lunch and Q&A (Cost is $65, students $35)
  •         Sunday, Sept 20 — Worship at Grace Presbyterian

  • Supports the dream of an Indigenous person, Alphonse Nepoose.
  • Raises awareness about residential schools and the resilience of Indigenous people.
  • Is a tangible act of reconciliation - Alphonse (Indigenous) & Layne (non-Indigenous) have been working together meaningfully for 5+ years.

 Decolonizing Gender & Sexuality

Decolonizing Gender & Sexuality

What does it mean to be a truly affirming ally? This workshop invites you to go beyond good intentions and explore how we can create more welcoming, inclusive, and supportive spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ and Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer people.
Together, we’ll unpack gender, sexuality, pronouns, and common assumptions while exploring the rich diversity of gender and sexuality that existed on Turtle Island long before colonization. We’ll also consider how colonization continues to shape experiences today and discover practical ways to practice meaningful, decolonial allyship in our workplaces, communities, relationships, and everyday lives.
Come with curiosity, leave with greater understanding, practical tools, and a deeper commitment to being an ally who helps make space for everyone to belong.
