St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is a Stephen Ministry congregation.  Our congregation’s Stephen Ministry equips lay-people to provide one-to-one Christian care to people in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

All Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of training and participate in ongoing peer supervision and continuing education.    Confidentiality is a vital part of Stephen Ministry. The identity of those receiving care and everything they discuss with a Stephen Minister remains private.

Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care we need when faced with a crisis or difficulty, such as:

·         Loss of a loved one

·         Hospitalization

·         Divorce or separation

·         Loneliness or discouragement

·         Spiritual crises

·         Unemployment or a job crisis

·         A terminal illness

·         Incarceration

·         Aging

·         Birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility

·         A chronic illness

·         Relocation

·         Recovery after an accident or disaster

·         And other life challenges

Stephen Ministers usually meet with their care receivers once a week for about an hour. The times together continue for as many weeks as the care receiver will benefit from the relationship. Stephen Ministers listen, understand, accept, and pray for, and with, care receivers who are working through a crisis or a tough time. To learn more about Stephen Ministries - please click here
