Gifts from a "mini-celebration" of Jan Hazlett

Shared at the Worship Service on Sunday, November 22, 2020

During the worship service on Sunday, November 22, we participated online in a “mini” celebration of the Reverend Jan Hazlett. She said kind words about her ministry which commenced 14 years ago and she was presented with gifts from the congregation, pictures of which are posted here.  In this small way we trust that we showed her that she was and still is appreciated.  Her "in person" retirement party has been postponed until the eventual departure of Covid -19 allows us to have it.

Memorial Fund Donations
Our gratitude is expressed for these acts of generosity over these past few months.

In memory of Ruth Young, a donation was made to the Memorial Fund from her dad John, sister Johann, brother-in-law Mark, nieces Makenna and Kaila.  Sadly missed.

A donation to the Memorial Fund has been made by Lorie Nielsen in memory of her grandmother, Lenore Coulthard Smith, her mother Vivien Smith Doucette, and her two uncles, Bradford and Rankine Smith.

Our thanks to Linda Burton-Chalmers and Elspeth McFadzean
Two of many who have offered their time and talent to St. Andrew's

Linda Burton-Chalmers has generously supported us as our envelope secretary. She retired in the past month from this volunteer position after eight years of service.

Elspeth McFadzean was the volunteer Cradle roll secretary. She sent out cards to children 3 and under.  She did this for 41 years!!!

Additions to our Historical Record
A message from our Church Historian

Kevin MacFarlane, our Church Historian, wishes to thank Patricia Abbott-Dobson for her contribution of photographs of St. Andrew's in Inglewood to add to our historical collection.  These were part of her grandmother's collection.

This adds to last year's addition of historical materials which Pat Tritter kindly donated from the collection of her dear and faithful father, Bill McAuley.

Of course special thanks will always go to John and the late Muriel Young, who established the start of our wonderful historical collection for St. Andrew's Calgary's Centennial in 2006!

If anyone has material that they would like to add to the collection, please contact [Click here for Kevin MacFarlane's Email address].  Thank you.

Ladies Guild Bake Sale Sells Out!
A big thank you to all of you who supported our Christmas Bake Sale by ordering your Christmas goodies or by your generous donations.

The sale was a huge success and will allow us to carry on with our missions at Ronald McDonald House and BB4CK ( brown bagging for Calgary Kids).  Keep your eyes opened for a few more interesting fundraisers coming in the new year.  Also a big thanks to the bakers and candy makers who made it all possible.

Nativity at Night on Heritage Drive
Meaningful Beauty from our Facilities Team
On the afternoon of November 28th, a crew of 8 volunteers, including members of the Facilities Team, assembled and erected the traditional nativity scene on the front lawn of the church. For people passing by in their cars, especially at night, the display makes  a wonderful reminder of what this season is all about.
Participating were Loran McVittie, Rick Dobson, Flemming Nielsen, Mark Rowe, Don Koch, Alfred MacRae, Sean Pepper and Brad Chalmers.
