March 1, 2026 - Born of SpiritRev. Laurie McKay - Lent 2 When things don’t make sense, can we trust the Spirit to sort it out? Nicodemus is confused by the words “born from above” or “born again”. Can we really control how or when we are “born”? Abram isn’t given clear instructions, just a promise of blessing, and yet, at age 75, begins a journey. In faith we rely on the Spirit to blow where it will, and trust it leads to blessing and life.

Grateful, Thankful, BlessedLet them eat cake! … and let’s express gratitude to Rev. Laurie McKay!! Around this time 2 years ago St. Andrew’s received a gift in the person of Rev. Laurie McKay. This past Sunday we celebrated this milestone with cake following our worship service (thank you ‘Baker Gail Prevost’)! Laurie’s energy, enthusiasm and JOY have been contagious, which is a good thing, because we run just to keep up with her!! Laurie saw that we had committed to do more intentional work around inclusiveness with our Indigenous and LGBTQI+ communities, and she has embraced this work and helped move us forward in many ways. I’ve worked with Laurie for 2 years now, and I don’t think I’ve ever met ANYONE who is as inclusive as she is. Rev. Laurie has a heart for shared ministry. She loves it when children and youth can be included in leadership, when people from the congregation are up on the chancel with her sharing in worship leadership. She has warmly welcomed our Ministers in Association, and enjoys working with each of them. Children, youth, young, old - SHARED ministry - Growing Life Together with God. We are grateful to you Laurie, and look forward to continuing the work we are called to do as we are woven into the neighbourhood, growing disciples who love like Jesus.

ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
Our ACM (Annual Congregational Meeting) will be held Sunday, MARCH 8th. There will be a short 5-10 minute break immediately following our morning worship service, and then we will gather in the Sanctuary for our ACM. This is an important time for St. Andrew’s as we look back at 2025 - and look forward to 2026! For those who are unable to be with us in person, you can still participate by ZOOM. Watch next weeks’ LinX for details. |

A Room Makeover in Progress
The Fireside Room on our lower level needs a little love. Currently the room is very tired looking and is not particularly functional. The room would be much more widely used by both the congregation and outside groups looking for space, if the room had a fairly simple makeover. |

What Does the Bible Say About Inclusion? And how do I talk to my friends about it? Join us for a morning with BIBLICAL SCHOLAR REV. DR. PATRICIA DUTCHER-WALLS, Professor of Hebrew Bible, Emerita, Vancouver School of Theology on Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 - 11:30 here at St. Andrew’s. |

Being a Light onto the World – StAC Benevolent Fund
As highlighted in the Feb. 8, 2026 service, StAC set up a Benevolent Fund in 2019 for the purpose of providing short term financial assistance to individuals or families in need. Session created a formal policy governing the operation of the Fund and the Fund was created with seed money from an anonymous donor. The church receives several requests for emergency funding several times per year, some requests from members, some not, and we have done our best to meet the requests of those with a demonstrated need. The requests are generally for unpaid electricity and gas bills, often when disconnection is threatened, or for help with rent. The Fund relies solely on donations from StAC’s congregation, and the funds are running low. Consideration of this worthy cause by our members would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be made online (see the dropdown list on our Donate page on our Website), through the collection plate, or stopping by the office. |

Lent Devotionals
Two options for those who are using our St. Andrew’s Hall (Presbyterian Church in Canada’s West Coast college) Lenten Devotional Guide offers a daily scripture reading and prayer, along with a theological reflection. CLICK HERE FOR St. Andrew’s Hall Lent Devotional Presbyterian Outlook (Presbyterian Church USA) - this devotional journeys through the Gospel of Matthew — a Gospel shaped in conflict, fragile community and deep disagreement — and invites readers to follow Jesus with humility, courage and faithfulness when the ground feels unsteady. It contains a daily Scripture-based reflection, reflection questions and prayers, and a pastoral voice that names the weight without rushing past hope. |

Have a ball in the Foyer!!
You are invited to join the G&G Lent Project - The Ball is in Your Court, as we follow Jesus' commandment to love our neighbours. Choose One special thing you can do over Lent to share God's love with others by caring for people outside your immediate family and outside our church family. You can pick up a ball any Sunday in the foyer, and bring it back April 19 to write down the special thing you did over Lent. We will gather them all together during worship and see how far God's love can spread through us when we love like Jesus. |

Stars and Wishes
During the month of February, and again Sunday, March 1 you have an opportunity to participate in our “Stars & Wishes” activity. This is an initiative of session - to consult the congregation on what YOU think we are doing well now - STARS (what are we known for, what are our strengths); and what YOU would like to see us do in the future - WISHES (how can we meet a hurt or need in the community, a program that would further our vision, a mission idea that you feel the spirit is calling us to pursue). |

500ml wide mouth glass jars with metal rings
If you enjoyed one of St. Andrew’s Christmas puddings from our Bazaar we’d be happy to recycle the jars! They are 500ml wide mouth glass jars with metal rings. They can be left in the main kitchen or on the welcome desk. |

Food Bank Bags
The coordinators of the Food Bank would like to thank everyone who has contributed recyclable bags for clients when picking up food on Saturdays here at St. Andrew’s. At this time, there are enough bags to last a good long while, so we will not be collecting bags again until the need is there. We’ll put out another appeal at that time. Thanks! |
