April 12, 2026 - Take Doubt SeriouslyRev. Laurie McKay - Easter 1 Jesus takes Thomas’s doubt seriously. And Jesus takes our doubt seriously as well. Today we consider the challenge of doubt and of faith. They may be more similar than we think. And there is room for Jesus in both.

Grateful, Thankful, Blessed
We were blessed to have wonderful services over the Easter season. Easter is a season with SO MANY emotions!! We begin Palm Sunday in excitement as we wave palm branches and march through the Sanctuary. But excitement is followed by sorrow and sadness with Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion. And then we get to celebrate his resurrection on Easter Sunday!

So let’s “Play Ball!!!”
This is an activity for all ages during Lent and if you haven’t picked up your ball yet please take one from the bowl at the Welcome Desk in the foyer. Everyone is encouraged to Play Ball by demonstrating “love for one another” and “love for neighbour” over the coming weeks as Jesus commanded. To participate all we ask is that you engage in completing at least one act of kindness (or more!) for someone in your community. This can be someone you know or a complete stranger — all we ask is that your act of kindness involves someone outside your own family and outside our church family. If you have a photographic representation of your act of kindness, please forward it to Connxions@StAndrewsCalgary.ca to be included in the June/July issue of ConnXions. On Sunday April 19 we want everyone to bring their ball to church. We will provide pens and ask you to write on your ball one special thing you did to share God’s love during Lent. We will read out a few of them during the Children’s Time. Please remember — the Ball is in Your Court. How far can God’s love be spread through us? It is time to take action so “Let’s Play Ball!!!” |

From our Rainbow Team
We are grateful to Rev. Dr. Dutcher Walls preached the sermon on Sunday, March 15th, reminding us that Being Public, Intentional and Explicit about the church’s welcome and inclusion of queer folks in all aspects of congregational life is not simply a matter of our witness for justice but also a matter of how we live out our identity as Christ’s followers. Pat also led a workshop on the Saturday, where folks were encouraged to write a short statement about their understanding of God. One member of our congregation wrote, "When I follow Jesus and remember how he welcomed outcasts and the marginalized, I realize that I too need to meet people where they are and offer unconditional love. I also think it's important to be open and welcoming to everyone. We need to remove boundaries and intentionally open our hearts to learn from others. Personal growth often happens when we step out of our comfort zone." |

Are You Able to Provide a Gift Card for One of Our Post Secondary Students?
It is spring again already and time for the Faith Formation Team to arrange a wee gift for each of our post secondary students for their final set of exams this school year. We like our St. Andrew’s students know they are being thought of and that we hold them in our prayers. We are looking for families able to assist one student by purchasing a $25 gift card (i.e. Tim Horton’s, Subway, Indigo, etc.) You would mail the gift card with a caring message to a student, whose name and address will be provided to you. Our students are most grateful for the gift and encouragement! If you are able to help, please connect with Rhonda Wishart at Rhonda.wishart@icloud.com or 403-614-9924 to be provided the name and address of a student. Thank you to all past and current participants! |

Advance Care Planning Day - April 16
You are invited to join us on Thursday, April 16 from 10:00 to noon in the Karl English Lounge here at the church as we host an event on Advance Care Planning. Advance Care Planning (ACP) is the process of thinking about what matters most to you in your life and what that means for your health and personal care. ACP helps you share your wishes and preferences with the people who are important to you so they can help make sure you get the care you want. A signup sheet is located in the foyer. Any questions can be directed to me. |
