Nov 16, 2025 - Churches Witnessing With MigrantsRev. Laurie McKay and guests from Migrante, part of the International Migrant Alliance Network Today we hear about ways we can love our neighbour with a special lense on “new arrivals” to Canada - whether migrant workers, refugees, or people immigrating to Canada. Many know the challenge of coming to a new country. God calls us to love the foreigner because we were once foreigners ourselves. Today we have guests from Migrante, a member organization of the International Migrant Alliance Network: Simon, Nellie and Clair. Simon was sponsored to come to Canada by his mom, who migrated to Canada under the federal Live in Caregiver program. He is now an organizer with Migrante Alberta, a community worker for seniors, and lay minister in the Philippine Independent Church, a denomination in communion with the Anglican Church of Canada. Nellie came to Canada under the federal Live in Caregiver program. She is a founding member of Migrante Alberta and has been organizing with Migrante since 2013. Clair came to Canada as an international student. They have engaged in community organizing focused on migrant justice and solidarity for five years. Clair is currently an honorary member of Migrante Alberta.

Grateful, Thankful, BlessedNew Electronic Sign I’m sure by now most of you have seen our new electronic sign where we can display information about our upcoming services and events here at St. Andrew’s. We are so very grateful to Craig Murray for his hard work on this project, and to Matt Nolette for his assistance on the ‘computer end’ of getting the messages displayed. Whenever something happens that looks easy, we know there was a lot of effort in the background to make it happen. So on behalf of St. Andrew’s, thank you, thank you, Craig & Matt, for helping us be a visible presence in our neighbourhood! |

Christmas Blessing Stockings Delivery
Thank you to our congregation for all of the generous donations for the Christmas Blessing Stockings! These stockings will go a long way to let those who can no longer attend church in person and those who could use a little Christmas cheer know that we are thinking of them. About Migrante and IMA
Migrante: Migrante is a national democratic organization that organizes Filipino migrants and the diaspora. In the Province of Alberta, Migrante is a registered non-profit advocacy and self-help organization. We address the immediate issues, rights and well-being facing migrants. We provide assistance through referrals, advocate and campaign on migrants’ issues. We work closely with labour unions and community-based organizations. We directly tie the issues of Filipinos in the province to the root causes of our migration displacement through the Philippine labour export program. Migrante is an active member of the International Migrants Alliance. International Migrants Alliance (IMA): Established in June 2008, the International Migrants Alliance (IMA) is the first-ever global alliance of, for, and led by grassroots migrants, refugees and displaced peoples. With 108 member organizations from 25 countries, IMA defends and promotes the rights and well-being of all victims of forced migration through campaigns, education and various initiatives. Locally, IMA organizations are leading the Education4All campaign to ensure that all children in Alberta, regardless of legal status, have access to public education. |
